Sunny Saturday!!!!

What did you do on Saturday???

Wasn't it just the most beautiful day?

Mine started with a little clean up and laundry at home.

Then a perfect pedicure with "Kami"

A long ride with Doug and a little shopping....

Pizza at Pizzeria... a wedding reception

and Skype

We called Mac and Priscila and were able to see the kids.

It was fun!!!!!!!

And last but not least....Stake Conference

Random Acts of kindness on Sunday....

As I lay in bed this morning [Monday] ,

I reflected on my Sunday

and all of the random acts of kindness that passed my way:

• My friend Linda giving me "My last Lecture" on CD. [RS Book of the Month]
• Robin coming to our Sacrament meeting just cause.
• Farrah sharing her sippy cup with Campbell in church [big step]
• Maureen sharing with me that Doug had fixed her neighbors car without charging her.
• Robin walking over to Grandmas to get her big pot for me to cook noodles in.
• Lex and Mason going to the silver shed to get the suitcase table for me.
• Lex and Mason bringing in wood for the fireplaces.
• Lex putting the water on without even being asked to.
• Everyone contributing to the meal, Nikki - homemade french bread, Holly- Ramen Noodle salad, Grandma - corn and carrots. [Spaghetti was the main course].
• All the girls helping with the clean up after dinner.
• Three 2-3 year olds getting along reasonably well [short of miracle].
• Carly helping Mason load a movie on his new MP3 player [a two week process]
• Nikki loading a tape for Grandma of Anabelle [Nikki's great grandma whom she never met] onto a couple of CD's from Grandma LouJean.
• Carly loading pictures on a CD for Nikki's new project.
• A phone call from Priscila with a "thank-you" and minute by minute playback of the kids opening their Valentines box in New Jersey"
• Holly and Lex cleaning the playroom at the end of the day....remember the picture from a previous post? Well it was worse than that. It is like these three little munchkins just go in there and open everything up and dump everything out in the middle of the floor. Holly cleaned up the majority of the room while Lex cleaned up the "Barbies" [Holly, this man is a "keeper"]
• Luke saying "Sorry" to Farrah after an altercation.
• Analyn and Emma playing together and walking together being cousins and friends.
• Lindsey giving me a hug.
• Lex helping Nikki and Aaron haul our old chair up to their house to it's new home.
• Aaron helping Lex load up the carpet cleaner in his truck.
• A call from Doug to see how it all went down [Sunday at the Wilson's]
• And lastly, a phone call from a friend.... that pretty much made my day....just to see how I was doing. An exchange of pleasantries and encouragement. Thanks Vickie!

Valentine's Day revisited..........................

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY !!!!

This is how our Valentines Day went...........

Early morning wake-up call/snowing/driving/delivering.

Valentine Cards Carly helped me make for the Grandkids.

Lunch at "Iggy's" with Doug, his mom LouJean,

and Robin, Campbell, and Nate.

Food was good, company better.

The sun came through the clouds....Yum!!

Movie at the discount theater...

who ever heard of a $2 movie??

"Forever Strong"....the movie...

If you missed it, buy the video..it is a "keeper".

Walked into the snowy night, groceries at "Stop and Shop"...

remember we have Grandma with us....S&S is the family store.

The night ended with thoughts of all the reasons why I love Doug....

But wait, there is more:

[anyone who has ever made sugar cookies knows what I mean]

Cards and gifts for and from my Valentine

Heart Stickies arranged and rearranged by grandchildren on the window..

And let's not forget the monkey....

Remember the monkey in the basket that I won at work?

Well I gave it to Doug along with some other things I had purchased for him.

This little monkey was more than met the eye....I finally figured out the connection of the Monkey to the "Romance Basket, and you will too.....listen to the Monkey as it Sings.....Take a look and a listen.....!!!!

I WON!!!!!!!!

This week at work they have been giving one "Valentine's" gift basket a day to random employees. Let's see, what are the chances that you would win a basket out of say 10,000 employees [I am guessing].

Yesterday I was whining to AMY [Co-worker] who is on the board of the very important and prestigious "Employee Council".

I was complaining about my chances of winning a basket.

Whine #1 "Why can't they just pick from those employees who actually donate to the EC."

[Apparently Human Resources frowns on this as being discriminatory]

Whine #2 "I never win anything...wah wah wah wah"

Then to my surprise, this morning when the anticipated email went out to all employee's to announce the "Thursday Winner" of the "Valentines Basket"

there in red bold lettering was "my name"!!!

"Thursday's winner is Colleen Wilson!

Congratulations!

Prizes can be picked-up in Human Resources.
Please make sure to bring your photo ID."

I screamed!! I laughed!!

What are the chances????

I haven't been able to figure out the connection

between the Monkey and the "Romance Basket"

OK, so Maybe I did not win the

or the "Game Night" Basket,

or the "Video Night Basket"

or the "Relaxation Basket"

[After all I was the Thursday Winner]

But.....I DID WIN!!!!

and that my friends is

NO MONKEY BUSINESS!!!

Treasures..................

.............every once in a while
you run into a picture that is a real treasure.
I found this one:

There are very few pictures that exist of me and

my sisters together when we were young.

We are all 5 years apart.

Carolyn was definitely a "50's girl born in 1940,

Rosalie, and 50's/60's girl born in 1945 and

me a 60's girl born in 1950.

When I look at this picture it brings back memories of

a mother that made all of our clothes,

A real fireplace with pink tile around the opening and

a mirror above it with pelicans on it.

A brass fireplace screen that opened with little brass handles...

And sisters that grew up in different worlds.

I loved Rosalie's "muffy doll collection".

They looked like Madam Alexander dolls.

Her and her friend used to sew clothes for them.

I don't remember the panda bear,

but I love seeing Carolyn in red lipstick...

a trend of the times ..along with her "pedal pushers".

The "bangs"..don't you love Rosalie and my bangs???

This doll could be my "keepsake" doll.

That's what we had back then.

But I remember her coming in a red dress.

This could be "the" doll.

The story of "the" doll goes like this. Carolyn got a doll for Christmas when she was little. The next year, mom and dad were too poor to buy a doll for Rosalie, so mom took Carolyn's doll to the "doll hospital" and had a different wig put on her and gave her to Rosalie. I guess that is what you did back then.....when there was no money. You did not go in debt, you did without or you re-did. When I was little, I did not appreciate the sacrifice's my mom and dad made just to put food on the table, but now I do.....and I wish I could remember all the things they did to save and scrimp. All the things they did "without" and "re-did", so that I might have "treasures."

The rest of the story:

Carolyn tells me there is more to the story about the doll.

In her own words..................

"The next year Mom took "the" doll back to the doll hospital and put a new wig on her and made a new pink dress and gave it back to me for Christmas. I still have the doll."

What a Party!!!!!

This girl just turned 80!!!!!!

What a party we had!!!!

We planned it for weeks.

It went off without a hitch.

She was totally surprised.

Her sister flew in from California.

A friend drove down from Rexburg.

We had it at the Huntsville Stake Center in Eden.

We had lots of food and plenty of cake.

We served about 80 people.

# 1 Grandson turns 12.......Happy Day!!!

Mason is my #1 Grandson yes.... my first born Grandson and he turned 12 today.

Here is a picture in his blessing outfit 12 years ago.

He is just as cute as he was 12 years ago and just as sweet too!

These are some things about Mason that I think are way cool.......

Mason loves sports, especially Football...His favorite NFL Team is the Colts.

He is my BYU Buddie. We try and go down at least to one game a season.

He always gives me a hug before he leaves to go home.

He likes to play soccer and baseball.

He likes to invent things. [I have a closet full of his inventions.]

He is really cute with his little brother Luke when he isn't teasing him.

He is not as cute with his little sister Analyn as they torcher and tease each other, but he does love her.

He has a tender side to him .....he feels the spirit.... he always tries to do the right thing and will be a great Missionary some day.

He is close to his dad Lex and he goes hunting ducks with him.

He loves motorcycles and the sand dunes.

He is a good friend.

He shares his Birthday with his Great Grandma Wilson.

When he was 8 months old on Halloween, he was dressed as a "cow" and touched the hot wood burning stove with his hand. He spent the rest of the night in the emergency room. [this is not cool, but it happened]

He has had braces for three years and counting.........

He likes to go the WSU Basketball games with his Grandpa Shaw.

He loves sour gummy's.

His favorite cake is "Angel Food Cake" with only cool whip on it. He could eat the whole cake.
