Goodbye Summer my friend......

Not too long ago, early on a Saturday morning I took a brisk walk down String town to say good-bye to an old friend.....Summer...oh how I will miss you.........come again.

The morning breaks, the shadows flee.......

A dawning of a brighter day....

In Deseret's sweet peaceful land....

Things I love about the valley waking up:

The smells of dew on the new cut hay.

The slight smell of a distant skunk.

The sound and sight of Sand hill cranes as they feed in the fields and then take off in flight. The sound of geese as the fly over head. The silence of the morning. The crisp air of the early morn. The sound of a rooster as it wakes up the barn yard. The mooing cows in the green fields as they eat and wait for the dawn to break. The sight of a hot air balloon as it makes it's early assent and the rushing noise as the balloon takes flight. The sound of an owl "Hoot" in a pine tree. The cry of a hawk on a telephone pole surveying the morning light. The holly hocks in the morning light..... The sound of the water as it rushes down the ditch......

But nothing is better than coming home early on a summer morning to the familiar place where we feel comfort and love, and peace.

Yes, I will miss you summer....for Fall is in the air.....but I have high hopes I will see and smell and feel you again.

I love this verse from O Home Beloved:

Ye valleys fair and snow-caped mountains,

Ye peaceful hamlets mid the trees,

Ye murmuring streams and crystal fountains,

Kissed by the cool, soft, balmy breeze.

Words cannot tell how well I love thee

Nor speak my longing when I roam.

My heart alone can cry to heaven,

God bless my own dear mountain home"

Princess F turns 5.

What a Birthday!

The Princess had a Birthday that lasted 5 days.

She is after all a BIG 5.

I was amazed at the work her mom put into her Birthday Party!

She made a banner that was about 25 feet in length total, made from scrapbook paper cut into triangles and stapled together and hung from a tree.

She strung a 25 foot balloon line [balloons strung on fishing line] high above the patio in colors that matched the "Strawberry Shortcake" theme.

It was fun watching them pop throughout the party from the sun or birds or whatever. A "Rice Crispy Cake" that was adorable.

And each party goer got to take home "Strawberry" sun glasses, Strawberry Shortcake coloring book, and a special "Strawberry Shortcake" CD with songs they could dance to. Pink Lemonade, Cinnamon rolls [homemade by Carly] frosted in of course pink frosting. And Carly stayed up until 3:30 in the morning modpodginga house made out of particleboard covered with scrapbook paper that looked like carpet and wall paper. She cut out furniture from RC Willey and Lowe's ads and glued them on the walls so there were 4 rooms....a kitchen complete with cupboards, refrigerator, and small appliances....a bathroom with toilet, shower, pictures on the wall, and rug on the floor......Front room complete with sofa, and big screen TV.....and finally a bedroom with bed, dresser, lamps, and mirrors. It was for Farrah's Pet Shop animals she got for her birthday [E-Bay]. What we won't do for our kids. She did everything for Farrah's Birthday but stitch her name on a hot pad! [If you get my drift]

Farrah had a great party with all the people that love her.....her friends, Grandmas and Grandpas, her mom and dad and the Farnsworth cousins!

Happy Birthday Princess!!!!

For tomorrow.....well you will be just Farrah....But I love that girl!
