Memorial day....a family Day

Memorial Day

I just love Memorial Day.  It is the one day when we meet with family and think about loved ones that have passed on.  Of course we think of them all year, but it is the one time as a family that we make an effort to be together  and remember.  As I have probably mentioned before, We meet at the Eden cemetery for the traditional patriotic program complete with bugle taps and 21 gun salute. [well maybe not 21 , more like 8 Veterans all shooting three times. With 3 misfires.   Lance Fuller still sings our favorite "remember song".  Wish I could remember the words.  You would all love it.  We pay tribute to Doug's Wilson grandparents and to  Doug's dad John, Brother Jeff, uncle Kelly, and of course our son Brady John.
Then it is off to North Ogden to visit Mom and Dad's grave, Grandma and Grandpa Mayhew and Grandma and Grandpa Ferrin as well.  There are a lot of cousins aunts and uncles also buried there that could tell some good stories.  And later in quiet moments I visit Grandma Margaret McBride's grave buried in the little "Lake View" Eden Cemetery.  A survivor of the Martin Handcart Company.  She is what entwines me with an Eden Heritage.  She married my Great  Great Grandfather Samuel Ferrin.  He later took plural wives which prompted her to leave him and move to Eden near her son Heber.  She was Relief Society president for 13 years in the Eden Ward.  She never remarried.   Her daughter Janetta [my great grandmother ]16 at the time of the crossing, and her brother Heber, 14 at the time, pushed their handcart until the rescue.  Janetta later married Samuel Ferrin's son Jacob Samuel Ferrin.  Her first child Samuel S. Ferrin is my paternal grandfather.  Her and Jacob later moved to Arizona where they are both buried, Jacob being killed  by Indians just 6 months after they got there.   There is a plaque, my sister Carolyn tells me, in the Pima Arizona cemetery honoring her courage for being a "Faith in Every Footstep" pioneer in the Martin Handcart company.   It is on my "bucket list" to see that someday.  Here are a few pictures of those we honor from this year and past years.

Believe it or not....I've got some catching up to do!

We have celebrated lots of Birthdays since I last posted.

Happy Birthday to all of my children and grandchildren in this post.  Here they are in order of Birthday:

We celebrated the April and early May Birthdays with a three "Special Plate" Sunday dinner.
Happy Birthday to Nate, Nikki, and Brooke.

Next it was Robins B day late May. She was being silly.
I miss seeing her everyday.

We celebrated Sam's Birthday from afar....
Sam Sam the wandering Man.
He is 4 and quite the adventurer. Seems he likes the water.
Perhaps he will sail someday.

Our most recent Birthday is Luke.
His claim to fame is he hates to go to church.
Holly and Lex get on your knees....
It's going to be a bumpy ride!!

Well more Birthdays to come.  My blog has become the Birthday Post place.
It has taken me 3 days to get this post done as my computer kept kicking me out. Arrrrgh!!

Lets add a Lili Flower..........

Yet another flower on our family tree celebrates a Birthday.
I can't believe she is 7 years old.
Happy Birthday to Lili!
Her Birthday has arrived.....in her time zone anyway.
I wanted to be the first to wish her "Happy Birthday" on her birthday.

Lili was a beautiful baby!
Due to lack of current pictures, Halloween 2011 is the best I can do!
Happy Birthday Lili!
Love You!!

Finally an updated photo of Lili compliments of her dad.

Another flower on the Wilson branch....

EVA
I was talking to Mac the other day and I asked him how old Eva was.
[With 14 Grand Babies, and a little memory thing, and a lot going on, sometimes it is just easier to ask than to take the time to figure it out]
Mac said, after some thought, 6 1/2 months.

Well, I said, the last picture I have of here was when she was born. [Actually it is when she got blessed and she was one week old. This was the last picture I have of her:

So I shamed into taking a beautiful picture of her.
She reminds me of Sam with a touch of another flower Lili.
Worth waiting for don't you think?

Thanks Mac, I hope to print some soon!
