HAPPY FATHERS DAY.......A DAY TO REMEMBER

Today is "Fathers Day"....... a day to remember.
This is my "Father" though I always called him "daddy".
He died when I was 25, here in Eden.
Robin was just 3 months old.
He was just 66.

5 Things I remember about my dad.

  • He loved horses.....they were the reason he lived. I think they were an escape for him.
  • He was the hardest worker I have ever known...a hard physical labor worker. He retired from "Ogden Iron Works" and earlier in his life worked for the railroad.
  • He was a very private person. He never talked about himself. The only thing I know about his life is what mom wrote in his history. I should have asked....he died too soon.
  • He was a very generous person always giving his time to service of others whether it was giving away things from his garden, helping Uncle Mac on the Pole Patch, working at the Stake Farm.
  • He was a spiritual person. Always on time to church meetings. I often saw him reading his Scriptures or on his knees in prayer.

I miss him.

This is Doug, his dad John, and Mac.

These are 3 Fathers that I also love.

5 things I remember about John.

  • John was an inventor. He always found ways to fix things or rig things up so they would work.
  • John liked nice tools. He bought a lot of them. I can't go any where in my house with out a reminder of Johns handy work. He built the cabinets in our bathrooms among other things.
  • John was a farmer. He loved the land. He knew a lot about the history of water in Eden and just about anything else as well.
  • John was a genealogist. He worked really hard at it and after his stroke he had Nikki help him with it.
  • John loved anything pineapple, but especially "Pineapple pie" No one could make Pineapple pie like John. He also liked homemade root beer. He used to make it in his science classes at Ogden High School.

I miss him too....

This is a picture of Mac and Doug, and Mac's dog...must be Leila not big enough for Cody.

5 things about Mac as a father.

  • Mac is married to Priscila and has 3 children between the ages of 1 and 4. Two boys and a girl. He sings to them. He has a nice voice and could have been in choir, but loved trees and stuff more.
  • Mac is a good father. He is working really hard to get his doctorate so he can provide for his family. We are really proud of him. He would rather spend time with his family than study.......maybe someday.
  • Mac knows the names of all the trees. He is an arborist. He likes to climb trees.....big trees. Someday he will teach his boys to climb.
  • Mac is a fabulous photographer. He takes amazing pictures....of his family.....of flowers...of trees.....of Priscila.......of Argentina.....you name it. He takes pictures of it.
  • Mac is a genealogist. He found out that we were related to the "King of Scotland" and some other dude that killed some body and was executed at sea. He loves that stuff.

Mac took this picture of his dad and Lili.

I really love it. It captures who Doug really is.

5 things about Doug

  • Doug loves the family ground. He loves to work it. He loves to grow hay and takes much pride in it. There is no place he would rather be on a crisp morning in Eden than on his tractor working the land.
  • Doug is a really good dad. He is patient. He doesn't give his opinion unless asked. He gives his kids support by being here for them. He raised them by himself for 5 years. He did a good job. Our kids are amazing.
  • He is a really good grandpa. The little ones especially take a liking to him. He growls or grunts at them and chases them around the house. He gets a big kick out of giving them rides on the tractor or just holding them in his lap. He especially likes to slip them sips of soda pop. [They call it Coke]
  • Doug does not talk about himself much......some day our kids will all wish he would have kept a journal so they could know him better. He is a routine kind of guy. Take his pills the same time every day....showers same time....newspaper...breakfast.....CNN......outside to work......inside for lunch.....outside to work.....etc. His job is a Fireman......it allows him to do what he really loves.....and that is be a farmer.

I Love him.

I am grateful for my son in laws as well. They are all good dads.

Thanks Lex, Nate's, and Aaron.

"Thankful" for Sisters......

What a Fabulous day I had with my sisters....on Saturday.....
See if you can guess where we went by the pictures:

This is where they have concerts....what a back drop!

Here is another view from the bottom:

Have you guessed yet?

There were Carousels......

With flowered covered horses....

There were Bridges.....

and a "Secret Garden".....

Filled with these.....

And these....

And I did not want to leave.....

I have got to watch the Secret Garden movie again.....

As we leave the SG....there is more to see like this......

And this......

And even these to feed...

I loved the "Rose Garden" where these were my favorites....

I just could not get enough......enjoy.......

Yes, I was "Thankful" for an overcast "dry" day.

I was "Thankful" that even though a lot of the flowers were weather beaten due to recent storms, [note the holes from hail on the lily pads] they were still beautiful and hearty!

I was "Thankful" for two sisters that I could spend the day with in a beautiful setting.

I was "Thankful" for a wonderful lunch at the Deli......

and that Carolyn was born so we had an excuse to celebrate!!!!!

Now if you guessed the "Gardens" at "Thanksgiving Point" you were right. I think I am the only one that did not know they existed. Carolyn has a season pass and I thought she was kidding.

If you can name all the flowers you get a special treat. I know my friend Connie could name them and if they were trees, Mac could......but I don't care what they are called, I just hope this is what heaven is like....then I would be really "Thankful"!!!!

We had a party on Sunday for Him.

Yes, he is the cutest red-head ever!!!!

[Thanks Veronica for the fun Picture]

Here are some of my favorite pics of Luke.

He has always been such a happy kid, even when he was born:

This one cracks me up........

He looks like the little Lion on his shirt....

Let's face it... the kid is adorable and knows how to pose for a pic.

Here are some Pictures from his Birthday dinner:

Goofy Luke!!!

3 candles for three fun years!

YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!

He dug into his presents!

Summer pj's

tractors

tiny mitt and ball....

Luke is so fun to have around.

If I beg or act like I am sad, he will give me a hug...

otherwise, he keeps them to himself.

He loves playing with his little cousins Christian and Farrah.

They pretty much fight when the three of them are together,

but if you can catch any two of them, they get along pretty good.

Happy Birthday Luke.....I love you!!!

Have a "Happy" "Happy" Day.
