More July 2011 Stuff

WHAT A BLESSING.....

BROOKE'S THAT IS.

Brooke was blessed the first Sunday in July by her Dad.

It was a wonderful day with lots of family celebrating

Beautiful baby girl.

The next day we celebrated the 4th of July

Eden style with the only Parade in Town....

Eden Town that is.

Where else can you find a parade where the Fire Department vehicles and the tail end of the parade [our own UHP patrol residence] is longer than the whole parade. Here are a few pics from that parade. The kids love it. They feel like they are big time.

Wolthuis Kids

Farrah's 1st year on a Bike.

Also in July.....

A visitor from the past....

As mentioned before Doug Retired.

This is Jerry who was a fireman with Doug and Kay

years ago at the Eden Fire Station.

He came to visit Doug.

Doug got his Axe from the Union for his years of service.

Last but not least,

the FERRIN REUNION

It was my family's year to be in charge.

We had a "Happy Birthday Lillie" theme.

We even bought her a cake and had balloons.

We gathered pictures from everyone of mother.

I will share some of them in my next post.

It is amazing that we have so many pictures of her.

She was after all born in 1911.

And that is where we are so far in July and it is not even the 15th yet!

Stay tuned....

MEMORIAL DAY..........WHAT WE DO....

WE REMEMBER

Memorial day is for remembering. Today I solved a mystery for me. My great-great grandfather Samuel Ferrin and my great-great grandmother Margaret McBride were joined together as a result of both of them needing someone to take care of their families. They had 14 children between them. and both had lost their spouses. Samuel was a widower who had lost 2 wives. Margaret lost her husband Robert at the "Platte River " as they were in the Martin Handcart company. So when Margaret got to Utah , she and her family were sent to live with Samuel where she cared for his children, and he clothed and fed hers. Eventually they married. Her daughter Janetta, married Samuel's son Jacob Samuel [from Samuels 1st wife Olive and moved to Arizona. This was my great grandfather Jacob and great grandmother Jenetta] After a few years, Samuel married another woman [Ann] in a polygamist marriage. Margaret was OK with this, but when he wanted to take another wife [Ann's daughter, Anna who was just 16] Margaret told him if he did, she would leave. He did, and she left. She went to live in Eden where her son Heber had settled. She is buried in the lower Eden Cemetery. She was Relief Society President for 13 years. It is recorded that Samuel was a kind husband and step father, but they separated anyway. I think that Margaret had suffered much on the trek and who knows how much one person can take. The mystery was that I wondered why Margaret left my great-great grandpa Samuel. Mystery solved..... My father is Clarence Samuel, whose father was Samuel S whose father was Jacob Samuel whose father was Samuel......Margaret's husband until she left.
