On Fathers Day Doug and I lost a wonderful friend from our past,Christopher Kirsch.
He and Elaine Kirsch were in our Ward in Hawaii back in 1973-74 while Doug was stationed at Fort Shafter. The Kirsch's, Kent and Jane Martin, The Gert's, Bill and Louise Grey, and Mike and Nancy Mahuika were some of our friends in the Ward there. We associated with these Friends in church and at their homes. We had lost track of the Kirsch's over the years. They were wonderful people back then when we all were just starting our families. The Kirsch's had Alexander, Kent and Jane had Brady, the Gray's had Arnie, the Mahuika's had Michelle, and Doug and I had Holly all within a few months of each other. The Gert's later had a "miracle baby girl". They had not been able to have a baby and had been trying for many years. We had a Ward Fast and the next month literally, they were expecting. Chris and Elaine were part of this fast. Elaine was such a good mother and it was evident that her and Chris had a solid marriage. Chris had a great sense of humor and was fun to be around. They brought a sense of calm and kindness with them whenever they were around. I remember they had a really nice apartment that was close to the beach. That was an innocent time for all of us. In our lives we meet people that we may never cross paths with again. They bring much joy and happiness to you and your life is better for meeting them. This is how I feel about Chris and Elaine Kirsch. May God Bless you Elaine in this time of sorrow. To read about this tragedy click here.
