Super Saturday Part 1

FERRIN FAMILY REUNION..........
Saturday was the "Ferrin Family Reunion" at Garr Ranch on Antelope Island. Ray's Family was in charge this year. Ray and Suzanne are volunteers out there and were able to get us a nice place in the picnic area. I had never been there before and was surprised that after you get to the island, you still have a looooong 11-12 miles to drive to the ranch at 40 MPH. Yawn......zzzzzzzzz. But it was worth the drive. The Garr ranch was a beautiful area with Buffalo near by, a museum where the highlight was a live snake, buggy rides, and horse back rides. The entertainment for the afternoon were the guys trying to get a little red ball out of the tree. They got a football stuck trying to get the other one out. After many attempts from a football throw, to a soccer kick, both of those balls came out of the tree. Ron Brown also gave Analyn and Luke and cousins rides on his horses. We missed Rosalie and Richard who were in California to a baptism, but her family was represented by Tamara and Michelle and families. Ray had two of Suzann's kids there, the Pont's, Paul and Harold, but none of Rays kids came. They had all been here earlier in the month when Ray had his surgery. He is as "good as new" now after heart surgery and an aortic aneurysm repair. Carolyn was here with Leslie, Cathy, and Melissa. Thanks to my family who supported the reunion. Many "THANKS" to Ray & Suzanne for a great reunion.

I'm probably the only one up at this hour.
Hey, where'd Lili get the watermelon? That looks good.

Yeah, I don't remember any watermelon. At least I can say I've been to Antelope Island.

Ok, so Lili pawned the watermellon off strangers on a picnic table close to us. You just have to be cute and have blue eyes and long eyelashes to get any.

I saw Lili gravitating toward a table occupied by her fellow spanish-speaking citizens and she would look back at me every once in awhile as if she was peeking over a trench from WWI. I knew that she had her eye on their watermelon, so I went to get her before she got as close as a lioness to her prey before she goes in for the kill.
When I got to her it was too late and the people at the table had already gotten the drift that Lili was watermelon hunting and they offered some to her in English. I decided to speak in Spanish so that Lili could see that it wasn't some secret in-the-family jargon we use. Of course they were taken aback at first by my Spanish, but in the end I think it influenced them into giving Lili a bigger piece of 'sandia' (watermelon) and Lili said "Gracia" (her trying to say gracias (thank you)).
Mom, I don't know if you took a picture of Lili's face after her watermelon binge but she looked like she had either put on a thin coat of clown paint or that she had begun to show signs of a mild-to-severe allergic reaction to Antelope Island.
Thanks for the wonderful weekend.
